Baseball Game Preview: Navarro Panthers vs. Pearsall Mavericks

Navarro is a perfect 6-0 against Pearsall since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Navarro Panthers will host the Pearsall Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Navarro's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Pearsall has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Navarro proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 12) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let Jay get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. The one-run effort marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Caleb Wood was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pearsall). They were the clear victor by a 14-5 margin over Freer on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mavericks considering their two-run performance the game before.

The team relied heavily on Samuel Navarro, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Pearsall always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Pearsall's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-8. As for Navarro, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.

Pearsall's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Navarro hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. It's a different story for Pearsall, though, as they've only averaged .232. Will they be able to contain Navarro's hitters?

Everything went Navarro's way against Pearsall when the teams last played back in April of 2021, as Navarro made off with a 14-4 victory. Does Navarro have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pearsall turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
