Softball Recap: Panther Valley Wins Going Away Against Notre Dame

Panther Valley got themselves on the board against Notre Dame on Monday, but Notre Dame never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Spartans. Considering the Panthers have won ten matchups by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Paige Goida looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Morgan O'Brien was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Brooklynn Mika, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI and two doubles.

Panther Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The win snapped Panther Valley's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-10 record. As for Notre Dame, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Coming up, Panther Valley will square off against Pottsville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Crimson Tide have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Notre Dame, they will take on Catasauqua at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans are facing the Rough Riders at the right time seeing as the Rough Riders are stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
