Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask University). Everything went their way against the Limon Badgers on Saturday as the University Bulldogs made off with a 15-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won four matches by eight runs or more so far this season.
Jocelyn Chacon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ellie Baca, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Zacheis, who went 2-for-2 with two RBI and a double.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, University always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .677. The last time their OBP was this high was back in September of 2023.
The win got University back to even at 4-4. As for Limon, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.
University will venture away from home to face off against Sterling at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. University will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Limon, they will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Wellington at 1:00 p.m.
