Preview: Spring Creek Spartans vs. Idaho Falls Tigers

Spring Creek has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Idaho Falls Tigers at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Spring Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully Idaho Falls likes a good challenge.

Spring Creek scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Sparks at home to the tune of 79-18. That looming 79-18 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Spring Creek yet this season.

Darren Bylund continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and 2 assists. The game was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. Jaron Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Idaho Falls' recent rough patch got a bit rougher two weeks ago after their third straight loss. They fell 78-66 to Skyline. While losing is never fun, Idaho Falls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Skyline is ranked 41st).

Spring Creek pushed their record up to 9-1 with that win, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 44.67 points. As for Idaho Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Spring Creek might still be hurting after the 73-49 loss they got from Idaho Falls when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Spring Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
