Baseball Game Preview: Prairie View Thunderhawks vs. Eaglecrest Raptors

The Prairie View Thunderhawks will head out to square off against the Eaglecrest Raptors at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Prairie View will be strutting in after a win while Eaglecrest will be coming in after a loss.

Prairie View had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Northglenn on Tuesday. Prairie View never let Northglenn get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Thunderhawks haven't had any issues with the Norsemen recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Noah Hernandez was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Giovanni Tarin, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Prairie View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Eaglecrest suffered their biggest defeat since April 23, 2024 on Wednesday. They came up short against Legend, falling 11-1.

Landen Holmes made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that he hit this season.

Eaglecrest has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. Prairie View's victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Prairie View has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Eaglecrest struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.8 strikeouts.
