Baseball Recap: Springville Starts Season with Win Against Payson

Springville had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Payson Lions by a score of 9-6. The Red Devils have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lions, too.

Hugh Redd made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Redd was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Eli Liddiard was a standout: he scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaden Tingey, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Coming up, Springville will take on Maple Mountain in a tournament on Friday. As for Payson, they will take on Mountain Crest at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
