Football Game Preview: Jefferson Dragons vs. Cairo Syrupmakers + Official Tickets

Jefferson has won three straight games at home, while Cairo has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Dragons will host the Syrupmakers at 7:30 p.m. Jefferson's defense has only allowed 10.9 points per game this season, so Cairo's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Jefferson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They breezed past Harlem to the tune of 42-14. Considering the Dragons have won seven games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jefferson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Colton Grant out in front who rushed for 53 yards and one score. That's the most rushing yards Grant has posted since back in September.

Grant was just one part of a punishing run game: Jefferson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 260 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harlem only rushed for 104.

Meanwhile, Cairo hadn't done well against Troup County recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Syrupmakers came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 28-20.

Cairo's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Jefferson, their victory bumped their record up to 11-1.

Jefferson didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Cairo in their previous matchup back in November of 2016, but they still walked away with a 17-13 win. Do the Dragons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Syrupmakers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
