Naperville Central is 9-1 against DeKalb since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Redhawks will welcome the Barbs at 4:30 p.m. The last three games Naperville Central has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Naperville Central took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against St. Charles East, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Redhawks had just enough and edged out the Fighting Saints 10-8.
The team relied heavily on Shea Meech, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 11 games. Riley Silvers was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs and one double.
Naperville Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They are 7-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, DeKalb was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 13-2 to Naperville North.
DeKalb saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cassidy Cavazos, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Naperville Central pushed their record up to 10-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for DeKalb, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Naperville Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like DeKalb struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
