Baseball Recap: Pasco Finds Playoff Glory Versus Weeki Wachee

Pasco had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on the Weeki Wachee Hornets with a sharp 10-1 victory on Thursday. Considering the Pirates have won 11 games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jayce Rollins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carson Wheatley, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Yanuel 'Yanni' Mercado was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Pasco lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive matches.

Pasco has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Weeki Wachee, their loss dropped their record down to 15-12.

As of now, neither Pasco nor the Hornets have any future games scheduled.
