Baseball Recap: Rio Hondo Sets Scoring Season-High Against Santa Rosa

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rio Hondo). They were the clear victors by a 20-4 margin over the Santa Rosa Warriors on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won 11 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Caleb Sandoval was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing six bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Juan Padilla was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing six bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Rio Hondo: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Gonzalez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Rio Hondo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Rio Hondo moved to 13-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Santa Rosa, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
