Baseball Recap: Christian Has No Trouble Against Grossmont

While Christian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against the Grossmont Foothillers on Wednesday as they made off with a 9-1 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Patriots, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Logan Major was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Xander Molina, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Bryce Vowles also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grossmont only posted a batting average of .130.

Christian's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Grossmont, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-2.

Christian didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-6 win against Santana on the 21st. As for Grossmont, they have also already played their next matchup, a 14-0 defeat against Madison on the 21st.
