Basketball Recap: Fort Morgan Takes a Loss

Fort Morgan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a hard 49-31 fall against the Sterling Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, with their most recent loss being a 41-34 defeat last Thursday.

Despite the loss, Fort Morgan still got an impressive performance from Shaelynn Ramirez, who went 7-for-16 en route to 19 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Ramirez a new career-high in blocks (three).

Tatym Dempcy was the offensive standout of the contest as she dropped a double-double with 21 points and 18 rebounds. She has become a key player for Sterling: the team is 6-1 when she posts at least 15 points, but 5-9 otherwise. Kali Graber was another key player, putting up nine points.

Fort Morgan's loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Sterling, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Coming up, Fort Morgan will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Weld Central at 6:00 p.m. As for Sterling, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 47-43 victory against Valley on the 25th.
