Basketball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

After flying high against Glendale last Friday, Independence came back down to earth. The Independence Patriots took a hard 60-44 fall against the Copper Canyon Aztecs on Tuesday. The Patriots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Aztecs earlier this season, when they won 62-54.

Despite the loss, Independence still got an impressive performance from James Davis, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 14 boards. Independence is 7-2 when Davis posts ten or more rebounds, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Anthony Colonna, who posted 13 points and four steals.

Independence's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Copper Canyon, their win bumped their record up to 12-9.

Independence has already played their next contest, a 57-44 victory against Sierra Linda on the 13th. As for Copper Canyon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 64-54 win against Glendale on the 13th.
