Basketball Recap: Wellston Comes Up Short

Wellston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Trimble Tomcats, falling 50-23. While losing is never fun, the Golden Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 664th, while the Tomcats are ranked 329th).

Wellston's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Trimble, they pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wellston and Athens will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday without much rest having both just played. As for Trimble, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Waterford at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Waterford will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Trimble surely won't give up without a fight.
