Softball Recap: King Takes a Loss

If King was feeling good fresh off their 17-0 takedown of John Paul II on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The King Brahmas fell just short of the Rockport-Fulton Pirates by a score of 8-7 on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Brahmas in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost nine in a row.

Xzianna Elizondo was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

Even though they lost, King was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. This was only their second loss (out of nine games) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

King's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Rockport-Fulton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-3.

King wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 1-0 defeat against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North on the 1st. As for Rockport-Fulton, they have also already played their next match, a 5-2 loss against Cuero on the 1st.
