Soccer Game Preview: Eisenhower vs. Sunnyside

Eisenhower is 1-9 against Sunnyside since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cadets will be playing at home against the Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Eisenhower was handed a three-goal defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Davis, sneaking past 2-1. Sergio Mora had the honor of scoring the game-winner for Eisenhower.

Eisenhower used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Davis. Esteban Hernandez played for 82 minutes having averaged 56.1 this season and Antonio Castillo got 70 vs. an average of 41.6. Castillo made the most of the opportunity, putting up one assist A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Meanwhile, Sunnyside came into Tuesday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was the Grizzlies who were credited with the win on Tuesday. Sunnyside got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Eastmont's four.

Eisenhower is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those five games. As for Sunnyside, the win got them back to even at 5-5-1.

Eisenhower came out on top in a nail-biter against Sunnyside in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Cadets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Grizzlies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
