Football Recap: Bartlesville Comes Up Short

Bartlesville was the 30-20 winner over Ponca City when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bruins were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 24-23 to the Wildcats.

Despite the defeat, Bartlesville saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Michael Kent threw for 237 yards and one TD, and also rushed for 81 yards on only 11 carries. The Bruins also got help from Harrison Ketchum, who showed off his sure hands for 84 receiving yards.

Bartlesville dropped their record down to 1-7 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Ponca City, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Coincidentally, Bartlesville and Ponca City will both be playing Putnam City West the next time they take the field. The Bruins will head out to face the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Wildcats will host them at 7:00 p.m. on November 7.
