Basketball Game Preview: Kelliher/Northome Mustangs vs. Sacred Heart Eagles

The Kelliher/Northome Mustangs will face off against the Sacred Heart Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kelliher/Northome knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 29 contests -- so hopefully Sacred Heart likes a good challenge.

Kelliher/Northome is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 66-46 margin over Warren-Alvarado-Oslo. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 21 games by 20 points or more this season.

Kelliher/Northome can attribute much of their success to Kate Thayer, who shot 50% from the field on her way to 20 points along with eight boards and seven steals, and Kylee Binkley, who went 7-for-14 to rack up 21 points in addition to seven steals and five rebounds. Thayer has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 58 times she's played. Allison Lundin was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Kelliher/Northome smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 23 consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Sacred Heart waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They enjoyed a cozy 67-51 win over the Thunderbirds.

Kelliher/Northome's victory bumped their record up to 26-3. As for Sacred Heart, their win bumped their record up to 20-5.

Things could have been worse for Kelliher/Northome, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-43 loss to Sacred Heart in their previous meeting back in December of 2019. Can Kelliher/Northome avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
