Preview: Seguin Matadors vs. Smithson Valley Rangers
Seguin is 6-0 against Smithson Valley since November of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Seguin Matadors will head out on the road to square off against the Smithson Valley Rangers at 6:30 p.m. Smithson Valley took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Seguin, who comes in off a win.
Even though Pieper scored an imposing 74 points on Friday, Seguin still came out on top. Seguin managed a 79-74 victory over Pieper.
It was another big night for John Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 44 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Corey Dailey was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Smithson Valley pushed their score all the way to 70 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 79-70 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tivy. Smithson Valley has struggled against Tivy recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Seguin's victory bumped their record up to 15-16. As for Smithson Valley, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-19.
Seguin was able to grind out a solid victory over Smithson Valley in their previous matchup back in January, winning 68-59. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Smithson Valley's Dj Onezine, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Seguin still be able to contain Onezine? There's only one way to find out.
