Softball Recap: Rutland Drops Highest Score of Season Against Howard

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rutland). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Howard Huskies a 19-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Hurricanes have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Huskies, too.

Addison Payne was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Kadian, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Rutland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Rutland's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Howard, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Rutland will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Huskies: the pair will be back at it again later today.
