Flag Football Recap: Kamaiya Owens and Lucy Sandoval Pace Combs Defense

After soaring to 34 points the game before, Combs was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They took a 25-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westview Knights.

Although Combs took the loss, they still got scores from Lucy Sandoval and Piper Blue.

Even if they lost, Combs' defense still kept up the pressure with five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Kamaiya Owens and Sandoval, who racked up all five sacks between them. Sandoval got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Elizabeth Gonzales was a one-woman wrecking crew For Westview. as she picked up 89 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 39 yards. Gonzales also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making two total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging two interceptions both of which were returned for touchdowns.

Combs' defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Westview, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Combs didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-7 loss against ALA - Queen Creek on the 16th. As for Westview, they have also already played their next game, a 20-14 win against Dysart on the 16th.
