Volleyball Recap: Copley Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Meryn Stacy and Jayli Owens

If Copley was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Roosevelt on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Indians fell just short of the Medina Battling Bees by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Battling Bees apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Copley took Medina into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking 12-point loss. The final score came out to 25-20, 12-25, 22-25, 25-20, 25-13.

Copley's loss came despite strong showings from Jayli Owens and Meryn Stacy. Owens had 28 digs and one assist, while Stacy had 23 digs, six kills, and one block. Stacy is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had six or more in each of the last seven games she's played.

Copley's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Medina, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Copley has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Cuyahoga Falls on the 2nd. As for Medina, they will be playing at home against Cleveland Heights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
