Basketball Recap: Seven Rivers Christian Takes Down St. Johns Country Day in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Seven Rivers Christian rose to the challenge on Thursday. They managed a 41-37 win over the St. Johns Country Day Spartans. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Annalise De Beer was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds. De Beer is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Zoey Houle, who posted 13 points and seven rebounds.

Despite the loss, St. Johns Country Day saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kendall Proffitt dropped a triple-double with 22 points, 22 boards, and 12 blocks. Those 22 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Proffitt. The team also got some help courtesy of Lindsay Williams, who put up four points and five boards.

Seven Rivers Christian pushed their record up to 17-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.4 points over those games. As for St. Johns Country Day, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-7.

Seven Rivers Christian has already played their next match, a 76-25 loss against North Florida Educational Institute on the 18th. St. Johns Country Day does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
