Baseball Recap: Brownsville Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Brownsville came into Friday's matchup having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Uniontown Red Raiders by a score of 8-4 on Friday. This was payback for the Falcons, who suffered an 11-6 loss the last time these two teams met.

Jeremiah McDonald made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Brownsville is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-10 otherwise. McDonald was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Johnathan Vasbinder was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Jonah Dillinger was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs.

Brownsville's win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Uniontown, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brownsville will venture away from home to challenge Albert Gallatin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Uniontown, they will head out to face off against Elizabeth Forward at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Red Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
