Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Julia Savage and Mary Katherine Whitehurst Lead Bayside Academy to Victory

Fairhope typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Bayside Academy proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Pirates. This was a revenge game for the Admirals: when they faced off against the Pirates back in September, they had to take a 3-1 loss.

The victory didn't come easy: Fairhope scored at least 19 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-19, 22-25, 25-20.

Bayside Academy was led to victory by Mary Katherine Whitehurst and Julia Savage. Whitehurst had 22 digs and three aces, while Savage had four aces and one assist. That's the most aces Whitehurst has posted over her last ten matchups.

They weren't the only good servers: Bayside Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairhope only served nine.

Fairhope's loss came despite strong showings from Addy Busby and Paige Benson. Busby had 18 digs and two aces, while Benson had 15 digs and two aces.

Bayside Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-16 record this season. As for Fairhope, their defeat ended a seven-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 23-20.

As of now, neither Bayside Academy nor the Pirates have any future games scheduled.
