Soccer Game Preview: Shelbyville Central vs. Columbia Central

The Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles will challenge the Columbia Central Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Shelbyville Central is headed into Tuesday's game hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Holy Spirit Prep.

Meanwhile, Columbia Central kept a clean sheet against Lincoln County last Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Falcons. Given Columbia Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Lincoln County are ranked 210th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Columbia Central's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-1-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three contests. As for Shelbyville Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3-1.

Shelbyville Central beat Columbia Central by a goal in their previous matchup back in March, winning 1-0. Will the Golden Eagles repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
