North Crowley, Boyle County and De La Salle earn spot in rankings with big wins.

Top-ranked Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) left no doubt who the best team in high school football was Friday night, solidifying its spot at No. 1 in the MaxPreps Top 25 with a dominant 31-15 win over Bishop Gorman's (Las Vegas).

Mater Dei was led by Oregon-bound running back Jordon Davison, who finished with 19 carries for 90 yards and two touchdowns. The defense got pressure all night and produced six sacks. The Monarchs are now 17-0 against out-of-state opponents since 2017. Up next is a road trip to the islands to face Kahuku (Hawaii) on Saturday.

The loss dropped Bishop Gorman to No. 5 in this week's rankings and snapped the program's 27-game win streak. The Gaels face another Trinity League opponent this week as they host No. 12 Orange Lutheran (Orange, Calif.) on Friday.

Orange Lutheran is a team on the rise in this week's rankings after improving to 3-0 with a 15-13 win over St. Frances Academy (Baltimore).

In Texas, North Crowley (Fort Worth) went from unranked to No. 13 after beating DeSoto 57-51 and snapping the defending state champ's 23-game win streak. Panther running backs Cornelius Warren and Daniel Bray both went over 100 yards on the ground, totaling 280 yards and four touchdowns. Quentin Gibson hauled in seven receptions for 180 yards and four scores.

The wild shootout in the Lone Star State featured 1,120 total yards and incredibly three DeSoto running backs topped the century mark in a losing effort. The Eagles dropped 20 spots to No. 25.

Boyle County (Danville, Ky.) also made a big jump going from unranked to No. 14 after beating previously-ranked St. Edward (Lakewood, Ohio) 38-21. West Virginia-bound Montavin Quisenberry was the best player on the field, carrying 25 times for 141 yards and three touchdowns to go with a 69-yard touchdown pass on a trick play to Geo Brown. He iced the game in the fourth quarter with an interception.

A mainstay for decades in national rankings produced by a variety of media outlets, De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) is back in the MaxPreps Top 25 for the first time since 2021. The Spartans cemented their position as the best team in Northern California with a dominant 39-10 win over Serra (San Mateo).
