Basketball Recap: Tevaris Green's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Torrey Pines over Mira Costa

Torrey Pines and Mira Costa squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Torrey Pines had to settle for second. They took a 44-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mira Costa Mustangs. The contest marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Torrey Pines' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tevaris Green, who went 5-for-8 en route to 14 points. Thanks to that strong game, Green now owns an excellent 40.3% three-point shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Cody Shen, who posted nine points and three steals.

Torrey Pines' defeat dropped their record down to 24-7. As for Mira Costa, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 31-4 record this season.

Torrey Pines does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mira Costa, they will face off against Redondo Union at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Redondo Union's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
