Basketball Game Preview: Pine Lake Prep Pride vs. Community School of Davidson Spartans

The Pine Lake Prep Pride will head out to square off against the Community School of Davidson Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pine Lake Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.9 points per game this season.

Pine Lake Prep easily dispatched Langtree Charter Academy on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Pine Lake Prep fell just short of Corvian Community by a score of 51-48 on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Pride came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Cardinals are ranked 224th).

Pine Lake Prep's loss came about despite a quality game from Jamie Lawson, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Joseph Bruce was another key player, putting up ten points.

Meanwhile, Community School of Davidson had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down the Lions 70-56. The Spartans pushed the score to 57-37 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lions cut but never quite recovered from.

The victory got Community School of Davidson back to even at 8-8. As for Pine Lake Prep, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-4.

Pine Lake Prep strolled past Community School of Davidson in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 60-43. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Community School of Davidson's Dermot Lowry, who went 8 of 10 en route to 20 points along with seven boards and three blocks.
