League recap: Bishop Gorman extends winning streak with victory over Centennial

Adding to the longest winning streak in I Sunset - Southwest this week, Bishop Gorman beat Centennial 49-21. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

Legacy took down Cimarron-Memorial 42-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Bishop Gorman's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Randall Cunnigham Jr. threw for 233 and 1 touchdown and Alize Jones had 66 yards receiving. On the ground Cunnigham Jr. chipped in 242 yards. Brandon Gahagan helped Bishop Gorman's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 53 yards.

Cunnigham Jr. was a force in the backfield as Tony Sanchez's team topped the Bulldogs.

Cunnigham Jr. put up the best numbers through the air as the Gaels bested Centennial. Cunnigham Jr.'s favorite target this week was Jones, who caught 4 passes for 66 yards.

Bishop Gorman's Cunnigham Jr. and Jones led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-5 quarterback Cunnigham Jr. has thrown for 1,186 yards this season, while Jones has 27 catches for 434 yards. The Spartans' Michael Barnson leads the league in rushing yards with 1,184.

The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Leon Evans' team and the Longhorns. The Bulldogs enters the contest ranked 12th in the state, while Legacy ranks second.
