Softball Recap: Gillespie Has No Trouble Against Litchfield

Gillespie owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. Everything went their way against the Litchfield Purple Panthers as they made off with a 6-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Miners, who have now won 15 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Laci Schuckenbrock, who gave up just six hits to keep Litchfield off the board. Schuckenbrock has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Helaina Scott was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 13 games. Another player making a difference was Ava Parish, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Gillespie's record now sits at 21-9. As for Litchfield, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-23.

Gillespie wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-2 victory against Hillsboro on the 12th. As for Litchfield, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-2 win against North Mac on the 12th.
