Basketball Recap: Moss Point Falls to St. Martin in First Game of Season

Moss Point kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They had to suffer through a 70-17 loss at the hands of the St. Martin Yellow Jackets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 51-13 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

St. Martin got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Markel Simmons out in front who shot 71% from the field en route to 11 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Tyson Walker, who posted 11 points.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Moss Point will head out to square off against Heidelberg at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for St. Martin, they will venture away from home to challenge Gautier at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
