Basketball Recap: Saint Viator Takes a Loss

If Saint Viator was riding high fresh off their 53-30 takedown of Lake Forest last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Saint Viator Lions were dealt a 65-25 loss at the hands of the Benet Academy Redwings on Wednesday. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-14.

Despite the defeat, Saint Viator saw an underclassman step up: freshman Ava Garcia posted 16 points and five rebounds.

With the loss, Saint Viator broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-8. As for Benet Academy, the victory was the 21st in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-1.

Saint Viator will take on Joliet Catholic at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday up 249 places (114 vs. 363). Saint Viator will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Meanwhile, Benet Academy (ranked first) will meet Geneseo (ranked 336th) at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
