Baseball Recap: St. Martin de Porres Takes a Loss

St. Martin de Porres extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-2 in the process. They came up short against the Medina Christian Academy Knights, falling 21-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 17-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2022.

As for Medina Christian Academy, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-3. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 7.6 runs per game.

For Medina Christian Academy's part, D.J. Reidl was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave Reidl a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Moyers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Adam Collier was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and three RBI.

St. Martin de Porres will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lawrence Upper at 4:00 p.m. on May 7. As for Medina Christian Academy, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Central Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
