Monomoy has gone 8-2 against Sandwich recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Sharks are taking a road trip to face off against the Blue Knights at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Monomoy comes in on three and Sandwich on eight.
Sandwich's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Monomoy hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Sharks' pitcher stepped up to hand Dennis-Yarmouth Regional a 14-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Sharks have won nine matchups by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Willa Leighton was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with six RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Kiley Mawn, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Sandwich was able to grind out a solid victory over Nauset Regional on Wednesday, taking the game 4-0.
Not much got past Sophie Farrington, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Nauset Regional off the board. Farrington has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Mia Consalvi was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Monomoy's record is now 11-2. As for Sandwich, their record now sits at 12-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Monomoy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Sandwich struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Monomoy couldn't quite get it done against Sandwich in their previous meeting back in April as they fell 11-6. Can the Sharks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
