Baseball Recap: St. Elizabeth's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

St. Elizabeth has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.82 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They came out on top against the Crocker Lions by a score of 13-10. The win was familiar territory for the Hornets, who have now won eight contests in a row.

Brady Kemna was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over 4.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of St. Elizabeth's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-7 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyson Green, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Carter Reinkemeyer, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.

St. Elizabeth's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Crocker, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-7.

Coming up, St. Elizabeth will square off against Camdenton at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Crocker, they will head out on the road to square off against Stover at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
