Softball Game Preview: Asheboro Blue Comets vs. Montgomery Central Timberwolves

The Asheboro Blue Comets will take on the Montgomery Central Timberwolves at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Asheboro and five for Montgomery Central.

Asheboro fell victim to Ledford and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 18-0 to the Panthers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Meanwhile, Montgomery Central also failed to score in their most recent game. They came up short against Oak Grove on Friday, falling 10-0.

Montgomery Central now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Asheboro, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Asheboro's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. Asheboro has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Montgomery Central, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Asheboro continue to outrun the ball?

Asheboro suffered a grim 20-0 defeat to Montgomery Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Asheboro avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
