Baseball Recap: Centennial Takes a Loss

If Centennial was riding high fresh off their 11-0 takedown of Westwood last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Centennial Eagles lost 9-0 to the Vero Beach Indians on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost three in a row.

Centennial saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Giovanni Lopez, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles. The dominant performance gave Lopez a new career-high in doubles.

Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Vero Beach, the win keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Centennial will host Treasure Coast at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Centennial's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Treasure Coast's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Vero Beach, they will be playing at home against Seminole Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Seminole Ridge: 2.8, Vero Beach: 0.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
