Basketball Recap: Calvary Day Takes a Loss

Calvary Day suffered their closest defeat since January 12th on Monday. They fell just short of the Olympic Trojans by a score of 40-37. The Cavaliers' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Leading Olympic to victory were Chaya James and Arianna Shaw. James dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 boards, while Shaw posted 11 points and five steals. Shaw has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jasmyn Ashbourne, who had nine points and three steals.

Calvary Day now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Olympic, with the win, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calvary Day will challenge Beach at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Olympic, they will face off against Ballantyne Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Olympic is facing Ballantyne Ridge at the right time seeing as Ballantyne Ridge is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
