Baseball Recap: ThunderRidge Triumphs

ThunderRidge hadn't done well against Legacy recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Grizzlies narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Lightning 9-7. For the Grizzlies, this counts as revenge for the 12-4 win the Lightning walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2025.

Kayden Kissell looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, ThunderRidge let Will Paquette and Ashton Santomo run wild. Paquette went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Santomo went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Paquette a new career-high. Cameron Carpinello was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

The victory got ThunderRidge back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, ThunderRidge will take on Ironwood Ridge in a tournament on Tuesday. The Nighthawks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Grizzlies' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Legacy, they will head out to face off against Grandview at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
