Volleyball Game Preview: Bernalillo Spartans vs. Albuquerque Academy Chargers + Official Tickets

Bernalillo hasn't had much luck against Albuquerque Academy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chargers at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Bernalillo turned things around against Del Norte on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Knights. The game was the first time the Spartans have beaten the Knights on their court since October 6, 2022.

Bernalillo had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 25-27, 25-15, 25-12, 25-16.

Among those leading the charge was Gabriella Sanchez, who had 20 digs. That's the most digs she has posted since back in September. Elliana Garcia also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Bernalillo was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in six consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Albuquerque Academy made easy work of Del Norte on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 win.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Albuquerque Academy was: they took every set by at least 14 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-10, 25-5.

Bernalillo's victory bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Albuquerque Academy, their win bumped their record up to 16-6.
