Football Game Preview: Steubenville Big Red vs. Canisius Crusaders

The Steubenville Big Red will square off against the Canisius Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Canisius will be up against a hot Steubenville squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Big Red strolled past Farrell with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 40-24.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canisius). They really took it to Bishop Timon-St. Jude for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-7 victory. The win continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won six in a row.

Steubenville better keep an eye on Elijah Kimble. He was instrumental in Canisius' win, rushing for 127 yards and three TDs on only 15 carries, while also picking up 40 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Jack Cullinan, who picked up 58 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Canisius was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 233 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Timon-St. Jude only rushed for 137.

Canisius didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jaylen Hawkins and Max Miranda. Hawkins is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Steubenville's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Canisius, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
