Softball Game Preview: Gretna Hawks vs. Liberty Minutemen

The Gretna Hawks are taking a road trip to face off against the Liberty Minutemen at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Gretna's offense. They came up short against Dan River on Wednesday, falling 10-0. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Liberty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They fell 6-1 to Jefferson Forest.

Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Gretna, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Gretna might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Liberty when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
