Softball Recap: Bunkie Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Jena, Bunkie was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Pitkin Tigers by a score of 15-12. The high-scoring effort was just what the Panthers needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Brianna LaBorde was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Layken Middlebrooks, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Bunkie has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. Pitkin dropped their record down to 4-11 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Coming up, Bunkie will be playing in front of their home fans against Lafayette Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Bunkie has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Pitkin, they will square off against Oakdale at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
