Softball Game Preview: Mt. Baker Mountaineers vs. Burlington-Edison Tigers

The Mt. Baker Mountaineers are taking a road trip to face off against the Burlington-Edison Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Baker has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mt. Baker came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 16-0 to Sedro-Woolley. The game marked the first time this year in which the Mountaineers were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Burlington-Edison waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They were the clear victors by a 14-8 margin over the Pioneers.

Burlington-Edison pushed their record up to 10-6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Mt. Baker, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-8.

Mt. Baker couldn't quite finish off Burlington-Edison when the teams last played back in March of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Mountaineers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
