Baseball Recap: Lynchburg-Clay Comes Up Short

If Lynchburg-Clay was riding high fresh off their 10-0 takedown of Clinton-Massie on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Lynchburg-Clay fell 14-11 to Clinton-Massie on Saturday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (ten), the Mustangs still had to take the loss.

Tanner Roberts stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three doubles, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Cody Bell, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Lynchburg-Clay's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Clinton-Massie, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.

Lynchburg-Clay and Clinton-Massie will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. Lynchburg-Clay will challenge rival North Adams at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Clinton-Massie is set to square off against their familiar foe New Richmond at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
