Basketball Recap: Fort Chiswell Gets the Win

With a playoff win on the line, Fort Chiswell rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They secured an 89-84 W over the Narrows Green Waves. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 75-56 back in December of 2024.

Owen Jackson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double with 36 points and nine rebounds. The match was his seventh in a row with at least 15 points. Eli Armbrister was another key player, going 5-for-12 to rack up 14 points and six assists.

Fort Chiswell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Narrows' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carter Holmes, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten boards. Narrows is 9-4 when Holmes posts eight or more rebounds, but 5-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Mcglothlin, who posted 15 points along with seven assists and seven boards.

Fort Chiswell is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points over those games. Narrows' loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-11.

Fort Chiswell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 74-42 defeat against George Wythe on the 28th. Narrows does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
