Preview: Mercer Island Islanders vs. Bellevue Wolverines
The Mercer Island Islanders will head out on the road to face off against the Bellevue Wolverines at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Mercer Island has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 274 points over their last four games.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you nail five more threes than your opponent, a fact Mercer Island proved on Wednesday. They walked away with a 60-48 victory over Hazen.
It was another big night for Caitlin Monahan, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Elianna Weiss, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Bellevue pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Juanita by a score of 58-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Bellevue has suffered yet this season.
Mercer Island's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Bellevue, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
Mercer Island beat Bellevue 68-55 in their previous meeting last Wednesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mercer Island since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
