Football Recap: Fernandina Beach Starts Season with Win on the Road + How To Watch

Fernandina Beach had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They managed a 19-14 victory over the Mount Dora Christian Academy Bulldogs. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but the Pirates were the better team in the second half.

Fernandina Beach got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aydin Poe out in front who picked up 124 receiving yards and three scores. Those 124 receiving yards gave Poe a new career-high. Ian Miller was another key passer, throwing for 225 yards and three TDs.

Mount Dora Christian Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Issac Farling, who rushed for 104 yards and one touchdown, and Noah Slegers, who rushed for 58 yards on only six carries.

Looking ahead, Fernandina Beach will face off against Hilliard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mount Dora Christian Academy, they will square off against Lake Highland Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The match will give the Bulldogs their first taste of in-conference action this season.
