Football Recap: St. Paul Comes Up Short

St. Paul extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 1-6. They took a hard 27-13 fall against the Burncoat Patriots. The Knights lost against the Patriots in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 45-0 score last time.

Brayden Hamlin threw for 27 yards. Joshua Chavoor was his top target, picking up 27 receiving yards. On the ground, Brayden Lizewski rushed for 35 yards.

As for Burncoat, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.8 points over those games.

Burncoat's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Noah Koza, who threw for 129 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Koza's passing game has become a key predictor of the Patriots' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-4 otherwise. Kaleb Casey was another key player, picking up 34 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. St. Paul will take on Leicester at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Burncoat, they will challenge Blackstone-Millville at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
